Season phenology: early

Weather conditions:

Snow cover melted earlier than usual, although other seasonal phenology was normal. In mid-June strong winds occurred.

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Breeding conditions:

Rough-legged Buzzard and Snowy Owl bred. Those waders common in the area occurred more numerously than in 1990: Temminck's Stint, Dunlin, Ruff, Red-necked Phalarope and some others. Waders bred at usual times and their nests were predated moderately (mainly by the Arctic Skua). Winter hunting (1990/91) for the Arctic Fox Alopex lagopus was extremely successful.
 

Rodent dynamics:

Signs of lemming activity (marks, tracks, traces) were not discovered. Voles were very numerous in willow thickets.
